Diane Forbes, Ph.D. joined PepsiCo R&D in the Snacks Division based out of Plano, TX in January 2014. As an R&D Senior Engineer, she is focused on tortilla chip product development and was a part of the launch of Tostitos Rolls. in fall 2014 and was lead product developer for Organic Scoops launched in spring 2015. Prior to joining PepsiCo, Diane received her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin (graduated December 2013) where she researched specialty polymer materials for pharmaceutical drug delivery. Diane gained a variety of research and industry experience that prompted her interest in food and agriculture. As an undergraduate in Chemical Engineering at Iowa State University (graduated May 2010), Diane completed an Honors Research Project focused on plant metabolic engineering. Diane gained food industry experience at General Mills where she worked in quality and process improvement roles for international ice cream distribution (summer 2009) as well as cereal manufacturing (summer 2008). Prior to attending Iowa State University, Diane completed a World Food Prize Borlaug-Ruan International Internship in Mexico where she gained hands-on biotechnology experience in corn variety.
