Chantel Simpson is currently a graduate fellow with the STEM Food & Agriculture council at STEMconnector, responsible for developing and maintain content for the Feed Nourish Thrive outreach website. As a self-proclaimed “country-girl” and North Carolina native, science and agriculture have always been a major part of her life. She is an advocate for teaching and learning as well as the recruitment of students into agriculture and science based careers. Prior to beginning her graduate studies, she worked as a high school science teacher in the North Carolina Public School System. Chantel completed her undergraduate and master’s level education at North Carolina A&T State University and holds a B.S. Earth & Environmental Sciences and an M.S. Agricultural Education – Professional Service. She currently resides in Blacksburg, VA where she is attending Virginia Tech in pursuit of a Ph.D. in Agriculture, Leadership and Community Education. She recently received the Virginia Tech graduate schools Citizen Scholar award for her project entitled: Using the Community Capitals Framework in the Development of a Family Life Center.
