Agriculture Future of America
Nichole grew up on her family’s registered Angus ranch in Central Oregon. She participated in a wide variety of activities in school; some of my main focuses were FFA, showing livestock, sports and the science team. In addition to the activities she did in school, she was also very active in the National Junior Angus Association. In college she took an internship with Monsanto her junior year. Upon completion of her internship she had the opportunity to interview for a management trainee. She was offered the job in the fall her senior year and started in August of 2012. She relocated from Oregon to a seed site in Washington State. The main purpose of this role was to learn about the company and the processes at the site. She was in that role about a year and half before she was offered a new role as a Seed Quality Supervisor. She took the role, which required relocation to Missouri. In the short nine months that she was in this role, she was responsible for overseeing the quality lab on site. Just like the name implies the quality lab evaluates the quality of the seed that is being processed. In her newest role, Quality and Compliance Manager, her main focus is overseeing regulated/ stewarded field trials. When new genetics are created they must go through an approval process. In addition to this process she will review overall quality site, which will include finding trends through statistical analysis and completing studies on other areas that impact quality.
